Mission Statement
The Buildings and Grounds department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of seven buildings and several buildings totaling 520,000 square feet and over 65 acres of grounds. We are committed to providing a clean and safe environment for the students, faculty and staff.
The North Shore Buildings and Grounds Department will work closely with BBS Architects, Landscape Architects & Engineers and Savin Engineers PC, Construction Managers. We will meet weekly with all of the contractors to keep the projects moving forward and have them completed on time. The Construction Steering Committee will meet monthly or more as needed to keep the Board of Education up to date on our progress.
The Buildings and Grounds staff will also work diligently towards completing all the projects outlined in the 2023-2024 budget.
Capital Reserve Projects & Capital Projects
The following 2023-2024 Capital Reserve Projects were completed:
The replacement of the High School Synthetic Turf Field and renovation to create a dedicated Dance Studio space at North Shore High School. Additional work in the newly created Art Room spaces will occur in Summer 2024.
Security Projects
Construction on the New High School Security Vestibule continues.
Bond Projects
We continue the last phase of Bond Projects districtwide. Elementary School work (including the three libraries) scheduled for Summer 2023 was on pause but has been re-started with a new General Contractor on February 20, 2024. The High School Bond Phase 2D & E scope of work (e.g., Music Suite and other renovations) is in punch list phase.
Energy Performance Contract Projects
Solar Panel Installations are complete at Glen Head School, North Shore Middle School, and North Shore High School. All other energy savings measures are in place and in punch list phase. We look forward to moving into the Measurement & Verification phase shortly.
