Home Test Kits

Subject: Home Test Kits Available
Dear Parent,
Numerous media reports last week alerted all of us to the provision of home test kits for school districts being made available by the Office of the Governor. These reports were not all accurate; however, by way of this letter I have to make the matter clearer and be specific about the district’s plans.
We received our kits from BOCES yesterday afternoon. We were required to pick them up and we have safely stored them. There is one box (containing two kids) available for each of our students.
We would like to make these kits available for pick up by parents and propose to start that process on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
We will allow parents to pick up one kit per child at the high school from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday according to the following schedule:
Wednesday, January 5 or Thursday, January 6*
Last name beginning with A-G Glen Head School Main Parking Lot
Last name beginning with H-M Glenwood Landing School Rear Parking Lot
Last name beginning with N-S Middle School Bus Loop
Last name begging with T-Z High School (Gym Entrance)
*You may choose either day
There may be a line at times, and we ask that you be patient such that we can confirm that a kit be made available to each child. That also explains our need to verify identification.
Should you be unable to pick one up during these times, we will make other pick-up times available next week. I hope everyone understands why we need to do this outside of school hours, in order to minimize traffic congestions at the school.
These kits are intended for your personal use. While they have an expiration date of later this month, we are told that their life is somewhat longer than that date.
If your child uses one and tests positive, we are advised by our District Physician that you should assume that to be accurate. You should notify the school as you’ve been doing in the past and consult your personal physician. We will follow all school protocols for a positive test including isolation.
Thank you for your support and patience as we continue to travel through uncharted waters. I am happy to report that the return to school has been a good one and I was happy to see students in all of our buildings yesterday.
Sincerely
Dr. Tom Dolan
Interim Superintendent of Schools
