Regarding Masks Protocol

Subject: Important Message From Dr. Dolan Regarding Mask Protocol
Dear North Shore Community,
I apologize for the late hour, but I am just learning of a court ruling that throws the Governor’s mask mandate for schools into question. This prompts many more questions for me, and I doubt if I am going to have any answers tonight.
However, I have just received the following message from the New York State Education Department:
“It is SED’s understanding that the Department of Health will appeal the Nassau County Supreme Court decision, which will result in an automatic stay that will unambiguously restore the mask rule until such time as an appellate court issues a further ruling. Therefore, schools must continue to follow the mask rule.”
My primary mission and responsibility is to provide an effective educational environment and proceeding in the manner we have for the last several months enhances the probability of doing this. I do not know where this controversy will land, but I do know that more answers will be available to me tomorrow.
As per the New York State Education Department, we will continue to follow the mask protocol that has been in place until a definitive court ruling is in place.
Sincerely
Dr. Tom Dolan
Interim Superintendent of Schools
