August 30th, 2022
Dear North Shore Families,
I hope that you are well!
We are excited to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year in the North Shore Schools! Our faculty, staff and school administrators have been preparing for your arrival on Thursday, September 1st and cannot wait to get going!
As you know, a large amount of construction has taken place over the summer. While construction will continue in some classrooms and spaces in the after-school hours, our schools are ready to open. As a result, some classroom setups and some hallway décor may be impacted by this. Nevertheless, the progress and improvements in our buildings will have a positive impact on student learning and the quality of the students experience in the North Shore Schools.
Every year, we develop a comprehensive district-wide safety plan with our district administrators, our Director of Security and security consultants. The updated safety plan can be found HERE. We will also continue to provide various safety training to our faculty and staff throughout the school year.
This week, the New York State Department of Health and the New York State Education Department released updated guidance for schools. In their updated guidance, schools no longer need to contact trace based on a positive case, nor do individuals need to quarantine based on close exposure, if they are symptom-free. Please see a summary of all guidance, HERE. I do ask for your continued cooperation in keeping your children home when they are not feeling well.
Our Back-to-School Night programs will take place soon!
- Middle School: Wednesday, 9/7
- Elementary Schools: Thursday, 9/15
- High School: Thursday, 9/29

I look forward to seeing you at our many school and community events this year! In addition, please be on the lookout for a schedule of our Parent University Program and our new Viking Community Meeting committee structure. -
Please know that we are here to support you and your families in a successful North Shore Journey throughout the year.
Wishing you the best week (and year) ahead! Go Vikings! Go!
Sincerely,
Chris
