Dear North Shore Parents and Community:
The Goals
The 2018-2023 Strategic Plan is designed to significantly advance teaching and learning in the District through a bold and ambitious set of activities. The plan focuses
our work on common themes that we heard over and over again through our data
collection process. They are individually important and collectively complementary
to one another.
North Shore prides itself on providing a world class, transformative education that is student-centered, inquiry-based and aimed at excellence. Using best practices for contemporary learning, we strive to uncover each child’s best self to develop leaders who are well-balanced, adaptable, responsible and informed citizens of the world. We do so through the pursuit of these three goals:
- Teaching and Learning
- Equity for All Learners
- Social-Emotional Learning
I am excited about this work and am confident that these three pillars will serve
to unify our work, strengthen the teaching and learning process, and serve to move
the District forward. Each goal will seek to empower the voices of our students,
enhance their experiences with challenging, relevant and rewarding opportunities,
and bring greater purpose to the work that we do each day.
Mexican artist Frida Kahlo once said, “Feet, what do I need them for if I have
wings to fly?” We believe that these goals have positioned the entire North Shore
community to spread our wings and soar to new heights as a learning community
while embracing our core values in such meaningful ways. It is with both excitement
and anticipation that we embark upon the implementation of the 2018-2023
Strategic Plan.
Very truly yours,
Peter Giarrizzo, Ed. D.
