COVID Case Update
Dear North Shore Parents, Faculty and Community Members,
Unfortunately, we were informed late this evening that staff members at both Glen Head Elementary and North Shore Middle School have tested positive for COVID-19. Due to privacy laws, information regarding the identity of these individuals cannot be released. Due to the timing of this, we will need to engage in the contact tracing and cleaning process tomorrow. Specific instructions regarding mandatory quarantine is provided by the Department of Health and we will be coordinating closely with them. We respectfully ask that you do not call the school or email us for additional details at this time.
In order to enable us to fully collaborate with the Department of Health’s contact tracing efforts as well as to disinfect the building, both the Glen Head School and North Shore Middle School will be closed tomorrow, Friday, December 11, 2020 for in-person instruction and all instruction will be conducted remotely. A decision beyond tomorrow will be forthcoming once we have more information. Dr. Rufa and Mr. Dennis are meeting with our teachers now and our teachers will be reaching out to their families as we pivot to remote instruction tomorrow. We thank you for your patience.
Glenwood Landing, Sea Cliff, and NSHS will follow their normal in-person or hybrid schedule for tomorrow.
A reporting of daily cases can be found on the New York State website for Covid School Report Card and I encourage you to look at it. As the volume in cases increases, we will be in touch about school closures and direct contacts rather than daily emails noting positive cases. We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide you with updates as we learn more. We are working hard to stay on top of communication and we will be in touch.
Please be safe and Happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating.
