Dear North Shore Parents, Faculty and Community Members,
I hope that you are all enjoying this beautiful day. We have been so fortunate with the weather and I hope that you are taking advantage of being outdoors and enjoying the fresh air. I wanted to send an update on the status of our Covid cases here at North Shore.
As of this morning, there are 12 active cases among students and staff within the District that we have been made aware of. There are 10 student cases at North Shore High School and 2 cases among the staff at Glen Head Elementary. New cases have been reported to us each day since November 2, 2020. Many more remain in mandatory quarantine and according to the Nassau County Online Case Tracker there are currently 351 active cases of Covid within the North Shore Community as follows:
Glen Head |
122 |
Glenwood Landing |
59 |
Greenvale |
19 |
Old Brookville |
50 |
Roslyn Harbor |
30 |
Sea Cliff |
71 |
Total |
351 |
From the best we can tell, the active cases that are directly impacting the schools are the result of both smaller and larger scale gatherings where the wearing of masks and social distancing were not strictly observed.
As of today, North Shore High School will remain on a fully remote learning schedule through November 16, 2020 and are scheduled to return on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 with the caveat that we begin to see a decline in the number of reported cases among our students.
We remain in this together and must actively work towards keeping the virus under control. That said, I implore that we all continue to wear face coverings, to remain socially distant when together, to maintain healthy hand hygiene and to do our best to be social with one another outdoors, whenever possible. Remember that the actions of a few have an impact on the many (both positive and negative), and we can all do our part to take care of ourselves, our loved ones, and each other. This will be especially important tomorrow with rain in the forecast, so please remember to discuss with your children the importance of wearing a face covering while socializing indoors.
Tomorrow, our schools will be closed in observance of Veteran's Day. On behalf the Board of Education, administration, faculty, staff, and students, we salute those who have bravely served our nation with honor and integrity. My grandmother served in the United States Navy as a WAVE (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II. She always told me how they were some of the most formative years of her life, so the day is always especially important to me as it always makes me think of her. Our military keeps us and our democracy safe and I thank all of our veterans and active members of all branches of the United States Military for their dedicated service to our country.
Have a terrific day, be healthy, stay well, and notice the good.

Covid Cases Error Correction
Dear North Shore Parents, Faculty and Community Members,
In my email from a few minutes ago, I noted that there were 351 active Covid case. Please note that these numbers reflect the total number of positive cases by community as of November 8, 2020 at 5:00 p.m., rather than the number of active cases.
You have my apologies for the confusion.
Regards,
