Dear North Shore Parents, Faculty, and Community Members,
As we all get ready for the break, I wanted to make sure that I provided an update regarding New York State’s COVID-19 Travel Advisory. Effective April 1, 2021, quarantine following domestic travel is no longer required. However, note that upon return to New York, domestic and international travelers alike must still complete the traveler health form.
Additionally, regardless of vaccination status and/or past COVID-19 infection, all international travelers must do the following:
To board the flight back to the U.S., travelers must present either a negative COVID- 19 test result (administered no more than three days prior to departure from the country) or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 within the previous three months.
Upon return to New York, the individual will need to quarantine for seven days.
On day three, four, or five following return, the individual will need to obtain a COVID-19 test. The individual may exit quarantine on day eight if he/she tests negative.
If the individual is unable to obtain the COVID-19 test described above, the individual must quarantine for 10 days upon return to New York.
For those traveling, I wish you safe and healthy trips. For everyone, please continue to be diligent as we work together towards lower positivity rates. Schools will reopen on Monday, April 5, 2021 and we will look forward to seeing you all then. Please accept my best wishes to all those celebrating the upcoming holidays. We will plan to resume Rapid Covid-19 testing for the community on April 5, 2021 and we will send that appointment flyer under separate cover.
Best regards,
Dr. Peter Giarrizzo
Superintendent of Schools
