Dear North Shore Parents, Faculty and Community Members,
Revised CDC Guidance
I hope that this finds you well and ready for what is likely to be a beautiful weekend of weather. Today, the Centers for Disease Control issued revised guidance documents regarding the core principles associated with physical distancing in schools. Specifically, under certain circumstances the CDC has revised guidelines that relax physical distancing guidelines from 6 feet to 3 feet. Over the weekend, our team will carefully review the new guidance documents and how that will inform our practices. Please note that while the timeline has been unclear to date, we have been working towards a plan for our eventual full return to school at North Shore High School. While those plans are not finalized, we had planned to speak with the Board of Education on this specific topic next Thursday, March 25, 2021. We hope to receive more specific guidance from the New York State Department of Health in the ensuing days as well, which will also inform the focus of our final direction setting points and efforts. Our goal is to plan for a safe and healthy return for our students in a sensible and collaborative way with all of our stakeholders. We will communicate in greater detail with you next week on this topic. In the meantime, please have a restful weekend and stay well.
Very truly yours,
Dr. Peter Giarrizzo
Superintendent of Schools
