Kudos and Covid Testing
Dear North Shore Parents, Faculty, and Community Members,
I hope that this finds everyone well and enjoying the beautiful crisp, clean air today. As we all prepare for our weekends, I wanted to share a few thoughts and points of pride with all of you.
I am proud to share that North Shore High School has been been invited to apply for the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award through the United States Department of Education. As you know, Glenwood Landing School already holds this honor. The NYS Education Department nominates 19 schools in the entire State and North Shore High School is nominated in the "Exemplary High Performing School" category. A more formal and detailed announcement from the District is forthcoming. Congratulations to Mr. Contreras, our esteemed administration, faculty and staff, and of course, our talented students for making this a possibility.
I am excited to announce that North Shore High School seniors, Lucia Martin and Kate Weseley-Jones have been named 2021 Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholars. They are each one of the top 300 scholars in the nation who will now compete to be one of 40 national finalists. The announcement from the Society for Science and the Public can be read here. It is also featured in today's edition of Newsday. Go get 'em Lucia and Kate!!
As a continued courtesy to our community, the District will once again offer Rapid Covid testing on Monday, January 11, 2021 at North Shore High School from 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. The flyer and appointments can be found at the following links:

We have had a very positive and healthy return to school this week. It is wonderful having your children and our faculty and staff back together.
I wish you a restful and relaxing weekend. Please stay healthy, be well, and take good care of yourselves and others.
With my warmest regards always,
Dr. Peter Giarrizzo
Superintendent of Schools
