C.R.E.W. BEGINS AT GLENWOOD LANDING
“The Great Reading & Writing Face-Off”
On March 9, 2026, Glenwood Landing began its C.R.E.W. (Curious Readers Enthusiastic Writers) festival with an exciting schoolwide assembly celebrating over 50 years of C.R.E.W. This year, the CREW committee proudly stated that the theme was “The Great Reading & Writing Face-Off.”
Principal Finder introduced the teachers and students who presented a slideshow summarizing the various activities that will be taking place during C.R.E.W. this month. GWL K-5 learners are encouraged to read books about fiction, poetry, non-fiction, biographies, and science fiction, just to name a few and write about them! This month, the C.R.E.W. activities include:
• Buddy Reading & Writing
• Emoji Pictionary Challenge
• Author Visit – Jerry Pallotta
• 2026 CREW Book Drive – Donations Benefiting NOSH in Glen Cove
• Guest Readers
• Mystery Reader
• C.R.E.W. Button Contest Winners
• Spirit Days
During the ceremony, the Button Contest winners in each grade were announced and invited to come on stage for a photo. Congratulations to Alyssa Amato whose button won schoolwide.
Annually, during C.R.E.W., students are challenged to read more books than the year before! Many thanks go out to Principal Finder, Library Media Specialists, Ms. Stephanie Smith and Ms. Christine Kingsley, the GWL teachers, staff, the C.R.E.W. committee, and the Glenwood Landing School-Community Association (SCA), who are all essential to the success of this event. The slide presentation ended with the traditional singing of the "We're a Family" song led by GWL Chorus teacher, Ms. Julianna Curran.
