HS Students and Faculty Perform in The Acoustic Cafe Photos by North Shore High School Student, Lila Frame
North Shore's Acoustic Cafe is an open-mic style event, now in its 12th year. Every Cafe has a somewhat unique personality determined by the performers, song choice, and audience.
Mr. Chuck Wankel said, “The crowd of performers, their friends, family, and high school employees was over 100 strong. This audience created a supportive, warm, fun-loving environment that encouraged the performers to go for it on stage. The performances included songs from the Big Band Era, Indie Folk Rock, Synthpop, Country, Alternative Rock, as well as Classic Rock from the 60’s and 70’s. The variety of songs kept the evening interesting, as did the variety of acts.”
The acts performing included Cecelia Reilly & Parker Snow; Keira Rechsteiner; Kaitlin Ho & Mr. Wankel; Joanna Kim & Mia Pinto; Bradley Gonzalez; Kyle Wong; Lukas Costello with alumni Grace Miller; Ava Maffei and her dad Steve; Violet Ganzekaufer & Mr. Wankel; Parker Snow; and his visiting bandmates Sarah; & Sam; Mae Curiale & Abby Niece; and finally Caroline Winchester -- who brilliantly coaxed Ginger Sanborn last-minute to join her for amazing harmonies during the final song of the evening.
Mr. Wankel concluded by saying, “We look forward to the Spring Acoustic Cafe on May 28th in the HS courtyard.”
