New Trustee Sworn In at BOE Meeting

At the North Shore Schools Board of Education meeting on January 9, 2025, Dr. Jessica Dillon was sworn in by Mrs. Betty Ciampi, the District Clerk. President of the Board of Education, Dr. Andrea Macari introduced Dr. Dillon and said that the Board was happy to appoint a “7th Trustee” after lengthy deliberations in a special BOE meeting held prior.

In addition, President Macari read Dr. Dillon’s bio for the community and those in the audience to hear (please see below).

Jessica Dillon, Ed.D. is a dedicated member of the North Shore community since 2013. With 17 years of experience in higher education administration, Dr. Dillon brings a wealth of expertise to her role as Trustee. She holds a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership from St. John’s University, a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology from Long Island University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from SUNY Old Westbury.

Dr. Dillon is a passionate advocate for education and community engagement. She has been an active member of the Board of Education’s Legislative Action Committee since 2023 and served as President of the Parent Advisory Committee at her employer-sponsored child care center from 2019 to 2023, having been a member since 2016. Through these roles, she has worked to enhance educational access and support for children and families in the community.

A resident of Glen Head, Dr. Dillon lives with her husband and two children, who attend Glenwood Landing School. She is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students in the district.

Dr. Dillon said, “It is an honor to be trusted with the responsibility of serving on the Board of Education. I want to sincerely thank my fellow board members for this opportunity, and I embrace the responsibility of stewardship in guiding the future of our schools. I look forward to working together to address the challenges ahead and ensure the best possible education for our students.”
