OPTIMUM BUSINESS DONATES $20K IN TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES
To North Shore High School
Optimum Business, the leading provider of fiber internet, mobile, TV, and phone services, recently gave a $20,000 technology grant to North Shore High School through Optimum’s partnership with national education nonprofit DonorsChoose.
Tech and Engineering Teacher, Anthony Facchini said, “Acquiring the Laser Cutter is an investment in the future of the North Shore's educational programs. It not only enhances curriculum delivery across multiple disciplines but also prepares students for the challenges of the modern workforce. Furthermore, it supports extracurricular activities and fosters a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration. This tool will serve as a cornerstone for engaging, hands-on learning experiences, inspiring students to excel in their chosen fields.”
Faculty and students at North Shore High School can now utilize the Laguna Tools CNC Laser Cutter and Prusa 3D printers, providing them with cutting-edge tools for learning across various disciplines. These devices will enhance classes such as Design and Drawing for Production, Woodworking, Mechanical Engineering, Principles of Engineering, STEAM Sculptures, and Visual Arts, while also supporting extracurricular clubs, including Robotics and Musical Production. The new technology allows students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as promote teamwork, communication, creativity, and innovation, preparing them for the modern workplace.
To celebrate the Optimum donation, an event was held on May 8th with Optimum representatives, Superintendent Dr. Chris Zublionis, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Carol Ann Smyth, Director of Science, Mr. Steven Menchel, Technology & Engineering Education Teacher Mr. Anthony Facchini and his students.
