Fifth Graders Compete at Western- Suffolk BOCES Mock Trial Tournament
Mock Trial Club offers students an authentic opportunity to explore trial law and courtroom procedures. Students attend weekly meetings for several months preparing for the Western- Suffolk BOCES Mock Trial Tournament.
Team members work collaboratively to:
· Formulate their theory of the case
· Understand how trial testimony and complex legal standards apply to the facts of the case
· Craft and present opening and closing statements
· Prepare and perform direct and cross examinations
This year, North Shore’s mock trial teams successfully challenged teams from neighboring districts and received honors for Merit and Performance. Thank you to the North Shore Elementary SWES teachers including Ms. Audra Marcantonio (GWL), Ms. Janet Goldberg (GH), and Ms. Diane Krupin (SC) and the countless other faculty, staff, and parents in the community who assisted our students in this endeavor.
Congratulations to our teams! Go Vikings Go!
