GH First Graders Participate in an Interdisciplinary Space Show

For months, first graders at Glen Head School have been studying the planets, constellations, the sun, comets, meteors, black holes, and all things related to our amazing solar system! On Friday, March 28, they presented their interdisciplinary Space Show in front of Principal Thomas Sheehan, teachers, proud parents, and family members.

Since Winter break, each first grader researched and discovered fun facts about the various planets in space (including the Earth, Mars, Pluto, Saturn, Uranus, Jupiter, Venus, and Neptune), the different constellations (such as the Big and Little Dippers), comets (including Halley’s Comet), the sun (our biggest star), and even black holes! They each created beautiful pictures, wore blue space shirts, and took to the stage in the Glen Head Gathering Room to present to their parents, family, and friends the facts about the “out of this world” objects in our vast solar system!

But that’s not all! During the Space Show, the students sang songs including “Twinkle,Twinkle, Little Star” and told numerous funny space jokes to the joy of everyone in the audience. Thank you to music teacher, Ms. Whitney Hackman!

It was clear to all the families and guests how hard their children had worked on their North Shore “Space” Journey! Thank you to all of the first-grade teachers who dedicated months to teaching the Glen Head children all about our amazing solar system. Bravo to all! Go Vikings Go!
