Sea Cliff School Library Ribbon Cutting Ceremony!
With Guest Reader Superintendent Dr. Chris Zublionis
On September 9, 2024, Sea Cliff Principal Megan McCormack, Library Media Specialists Ms. Christine Kingsley and Ms. Stephanie Smith, along with fifth graders, faculty, and staff welcomed Superintendent Dr. Chris Zublionis, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, Dr. Carol Ann Smyth, Assistant Superintendent for Business, James Pappas, and Facilities and Operations Manager John Hall to the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Sea Cliff Library! The event coincided with the Sea Cliff School Book Fair and Family Night scheduled this week.
Principal McCormack happily said that “Today, we cut the ribbon on our new library. We are so grateful to the North Shore administration, Board of Education, and community for this beautiful space. Our students now and in the future are going to learn, read, and enjoy our Sea Cliff library today and for many, many years to come.”
But that’s not all! Principal McCormack announced that there was a special guest reader in the audience. You could hear the students whispering and then asking, “who, who, who?” Then Ms. M revealed that it was Dr. Zublionis, who used to be the Principal of Sea Cliff School and now is Superintendent of the North Shore Schools! Dr. Z told the fifth graders a little history about the construction of the new library and then read to them a chapter from the “The Playbook: 52 Rules to Aim, Shoot, and Score in This Game Called Life” by Kwame Alexander. He reiterated that little changes to something you do every day (i.e., reading, walking, brushing your teeth for a few minutes more) can lead to bigger more positive results, confidence, and growth by the end of the year!
Thank you to Superintendent Dr. Z and all the administrators in attendance, the North Shore Schools Elementary Library Media Specialists, SC PCA and community members, and Principal Megan McCormack for a great ribbon cutting ceremony and guest reading event at Sea Cliff School! Go Vikings Go!
