NORTH SHORE 6TH GRADERS DESIGN, BUILD, CODE, & PRESENT MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS TO PEERS!
North Shore 6th Graders Innovate by building Makey Makey Instruments with Scratch
MS Technology Education teacher, Mr. Keith Slack said, “My 6th grade class called Renewable Revolutions was challenged to design, code, and build a musical instrument. Using a platform called Makey Makey, students designed and built unique musical instruments from recycled materials. They then brought these instruments to life using Scratch, a block-based coding platform, to play specific notes and sounds.”
He added, “The students showcased their musical creations in a concert form in the classroom. This project helped my students with creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The activity was a great way to inspire my students to enjoy coding, design, and building.”
Additionally, in the audience were Glenwood Landing fifth graders who got to see how their older peers create, collaborate, code, problem-solve, and learn computer science skills! Something that they all can look forward to next year at North Shore Middle School!
