North Shore Varsity Cheerleaders Host & Compete at Their First Section 8 Competition at North Shore
"After weeks of preparation on and off the mat, North Shore’s Varsity Cheer team made history for hosting their very first Section 8 cheer competition last Saturday, January 6, 2024,” said Varsity Cheerleading Coach Jennifer Freeman. “Being only their fourth season as a competitive team, the Vikings took on the challenge and excelled at being amazing hosts! Approximately, 31 teams, and over 700 spectators from across Nassau County filled the North Shore High School gym throughout the day. Our team also had the task of keeping the schedule moving successfully.”
Coach Freeman continued, “After a long day, this team took to the mat, hit their routine, and received their highest score of the season. I often say that I am very proud of this team. I have seen them grow time and time again, but Saturday was the day that everyone had the opportunity to witness what I see every day - these girls blew everyone away!”
“I am so grateful that North Shore was able to enjoy this team and what this cheer community is all about. We could not have done it without Coach Racquel and the work of our cheer parents, alumni, athletic department, custodians, and North Shore staff. Thank YOU to our North Shore community for all your support,” concluded Coach Jennifer Freeman.
Congratulations to the Varsity Vikings Cheer team including Filomena Barba, Zahrah Chin, Giuliana Ferrari, Jade Feuerborn, Nicolette Fradelos, Madelynn Freeman, Dallana Hernandez, Youbin Jun, Rylan Kerker, Sophie Leigh, Juliana Meli, Sofia Morra, Deirdre O’Donoghue, Diana Roper, Alexandra Silva, and Giuliana Zaccagnino.
Best of luck to the North Shore Varsity Cheer team as they head to the Nationals for the second consecutive year under the leadership of Coach Jennifer Freeman and Coach Racquel.
