NORTH SHORE SCHOOLS CONSTRUCTION UPDATES
Districtwide Construction Updates at the North Shore Schools
With the support of the North Shore community, we have been fortunate to complete most of the major capital projects to benefit our Pre-K-12 students on their North Shore Journey. In 2022-2023, Superintendent Dr. Chris Zublionis along with the North Shore Board of Education and administrators led ribbon cutting ceremonies for the North Shore High School gym floor (Sept. 2022), dance studio (Sept. 2023), and new turf field (Oct. 2023). These projects were all approved by our community members as part of the school budget and respective propositions. Additionally, in December 2019, the North Shore community approved a Bond Referendum which included important health, safety, and security projects, infrastructure and air conditioning upgrades, many instructional classroom/space renovations, and site work to all of our school buildings districtwide. The charts below and on the next page summarize the construction updates that have been completed to-date or are in-progress at all five of our schools. The high school entrance and security vestibule are expected to be completed at the beginning of 2024 and were delayed due to supply chain and material delays. In addition, the three elementary school libraries/media centers are 80% finished due to delays outside of the District’s control. They are estimated to be completed by Spring 2024.
New Turf Field & Dance Studio Ribbon Cuttings
During the Vikings Homecoming game in October 2023, Superintendent Dr. Chris Zublionis along with the Board of Education, Assist. Supt. for Business, James Pappas, Assist. Supt. for Instruction, Dr. Carol Ann Smyth, Facility Manager, John Hall, and Chris Hines from LandTek walked out onto the fifty-yard line in front of a stadium filled with fans and proudly cut the ribbon for the new Vikings turf field! Dr. Zublionis stated, “Today marked another milestone for the District as we continue to watch our Vikings excel and discover their dreams. We are grateful for you now and in the future.” Additionally, last October was the ribbon cutting ceremony for the HS Dance Studio - the first in the history of North Shore! All this was possible thanks to our residents who approved Proposition 2 and 3 last May which allowed the District to expend existing funds in the 2016 Capital Reserve for the renovation of both major projects. Thank you to the entire community for your continued support of our students and programs! Go Vikings Go!
