North Shore Middle School Students Medal at Long Island Math Fair!
On April 5, 2024, seven North Shore Middle School students presented at the Long Island Math Fair (LIMF) at Hofstra University. The Math Fair is a wonderful opportunity to help students interested in mathematics to explore topics outside the realm of the traditional required mathematics courses. This year, 466 students attended representing 26 school districts across Long Island.
Congratulations go out to the following North Shore Middle School students: Rohan Chopra (Gold), Anne Kelly (Gold), Avery DiMeola (Gold), John Hosey-Rao (Honorable Mention), Madden Altman (Gold), Maizie Lippert (Silver) and Stella Cashman (Silver).
“We had seven students participate and six medalists,” said Math teacher and advisor, Ms. Kristin Frayler. “The 7th and 8th graders worked on their math fair projects as part of the club. The students did fractals, 4 color theorem, infinity, mathematical illusions, magic square, and e and non-Euclidean geometry.” She added, “Each student wrote a research paper and created a presentation for the LIMF.
The Association of Mathematics Supervisors of Long Island summarized that the Math Fair is an excellent way to help students across Long Island who have an interest in mathematics and want to explore topics outside the realm of the traditional required mathematics courses!
