2023 SUPERINTENDENT’S CONFERENCE DAY
SUPT. DR. CHRIS ZUBLIONIS & THE B DAY BAND KICK-OFF ANOTHER GREAT NORTH SHORE SUPERINTENDENT'S CONFERENCE DAY!
This morning, the B Day Band featuring Supt. Dr. Chris Zublionis kicked-off another successful Superintendent's Conference Day by singing, "Listen to the Music," (Doobie Brothers) to the delight of returning North Shore admin, trustees, faculty, and staff.
Dr. Z said, "Thank you to Jason Domingo, Brandon Bromsey, David Catalano, Brian Messemer, Bryce Larsen, Caitlin Mallon, Whitney Hackman, Simone Kuranishi, Damien Chillemi, Daniel Yankow, and Aaron Brateman. These folks represent the real reason we got the band back together - us; this tradition is such a good example of what makes us us, and what makes North Shore different." A year ago, the band "wowed" everyone at the 2022 Superintendent's Conference Day singing, "Under Pressure" (Queen).
After the performance, Dr. Z addressed his faculty and staff stating, "For over 14 years, I’ve watched your work and I’ve spoken with you about it. I’ve distilled what you do; your instructional moves and how that moves children. I’ve watched you do this work together and I’ve seen the amazing growth of our students from K-12. I hope you can see the North Shore Journey framework as a synthesis of the internal modeling of what makes us, us, a daily commitment to:
- being focused on academic growth and structures for students
- building independent/expert learners
connecting learning to the real world and making it authentic
building positive relationships and developing citizens who are explore the world of cultures and difference and other perspectives, but are also sure of themselves and their own beliefs - developing students with voice, who drive their own conversations but l building students who are empowered with resilience and to make healthy decisions
- allowing students to pursue their own interests through electives and extracurricular activities
He concluded by saying, "So let’s make a pledge to commit daily to these traits that make us, us. Make them habits and do what it takes to keep us, us for it will accomplish nothing less than our students growing into sophisticated communicators, committed individuals, collaborators, critical and creative thinkers, innovators and problem solvers who can discover their own dreams and build a better world..."
Thank you to Board of Ed President, Dr. Andrea Macari, who also addressed the faculty and staff, Dr. Z. and the B Day Band for an inspirational 2023 Superintendent's Conference Day! We all look forward to welcoming our Pre-K -12th grade students back to the North Shore Schools on Wednesday, September 6!
