HS STUDENTS TRAVEL TO FRANCE
North Shore High School French Exchange Trip to Paris and Northern France
French Exchange Trip
By: Eric Lepetit
This April 2023, North Shore French students took their first trip to France since the pandemic. And what a wonderful trip it was!
This year, instead of the exchange in which students had traditionally participated, the group of 19 students and 2 chaperones toured Paris. Absolutely all of the most famous cultural sites were visited: the Louvre, the Musee d’Orsay, the Eiffel Tower. Each day was completely full of activities and visits, walking from early morning until well into the evening. According to the students, it was exhausting but worth every single step.
Once the Paris portion of the trip was completed, the group boarded a train and headed west. Several days were spent touring the beaches of Normandy, the American Cemetery, and the almost 1,000-year-old fortified city and abbey of Mont St. Michel.
The group’s chaperones believe that the great success of the trip was almost entirely due to the students. While many beautiful and important sites were seen, the most important factor contributing to the smooth operation of the journey was the students’ wonderful attitudes and excellent behavior. This, combined with the many charms France has to offer, created an experience that will become a very happy memory for all involved.
