SEA CLIFF MOVING UP CEREMONY
Congrats Sea Cliff Fifth Graders!
Congratulations to all of the Sea Cliff fifth graders who graduated on June 16, 2023, in a ceremony held inside in the Sea Cliff School Theatre led by Principal Mrs. Megan McCormack.
Principal McCormack warmly welcomed the parents and family members in the audience and congratulated everyone on achieving this incredible milestone. She said, “You have touched the lives of so many in this school. Speaking on behalf of all your teachers, know we are so proud and encourage you to be brave and courageous. From kindergarten through 5th grade, you have impressed your teachers, problem solved through conflicts, thought deeply, and collaborated with peers. Continue exploring and never be afraid to take risks.”
During the memorable ceremony, the graduates spoke beautifully about their goals and dreams including being professional actors, teachers, doctors, computer or environmental scientists, rock climbers, artists, children’s authors, and a stock market empire leader! Additionally, they reflected on how they, Light the Way” at Sea Cliff School by helping others, making friends, being a role model, facing problems, making good decisions, showing good sportsmanship, being kind, and never giving up. They also sang songs led by Ashley Hasset-Bordes including “ “Life is a Highway” by Tom Cockrane. Each were then called to the podium to receive their diplomas from Principal McCormack in recognition of this unforgettable day. As the graduating class of 2023 was announced, all of their loving families, peers, and teachers in the audience proudly applauded with joy.
Superintendent Dr. Christopher Zublionis who was also the principal of Sea Cliff School spoke and reminded the fifth graders of three things that they can do to be successful in middle school including surrounding yourself with people who will help you, helping yourself and taking good care of yourself, and helping others. Additionally, Principal Dr. Ryan O’Hara, warmly welcomed his incoming 6th graders to North Shore Middle School. He said that they will face new challenges academically and socially, but they were more than ready to face them and succeed! He was looking forward to spending the next three years with them before they graduate from North Shore in 2030!
Principal McCormack concluded by saying,” Cherish all the memories and never forget the good times. Continue to push yourself, persevere, and love what you do. Always keep smiling! Thank you to all the families, teachers and friends who have encouraged you to light the way. I want you to know that you will always have a special place in my heart being my first 5th grade class as a principal! As you continue on your North Shore journey, we wish you the best of luck in Middle School.”
After the ceremony, the faculty and younger Sea Cliff students lined up on the blacktop to cheer on their older fifth grade peers and wish them best of luck! Congratulations to the Sea Cliff Class of 2023! Have a great summer!
