TWO NORTH SHORE ALUMNI WIN GRAMMYS!
Congratulations to Angelo Antinori and Eileen Zhao!
Congratulations go out to Angelo Antinori, Percussionist and NSHS Class of 2016 alum, and Eileen Zhao, NSHS Class of 2022 alumna! They both along with the New York Youth Symphony were awarded a Grammy for "Best Orchestral Performance" at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards held on Sunday, February 5, 2023. This is the first time a youth orchestra has won in this category.
At North Shore, Angelo played in the school's numerous music groups, earning spots in All County, All State, All Eastern and All National ensembles. He was accepted into the Juilliard Pre-College Program and went on to earn a Performance Degree from The Cleveland Institute of Music.
Eileen Zhao was a leader in the Orchestra and Select Chamber Orchestra at North Shore, and consistently earned top positions in LISFA and All County ensembles. She was a member of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and was selected by Newsday as a Long Island Scholar Artist. She is currently pursuing a Biology Degree at Case Western Reserve.
The New York Youth Symphony can be seen in concert on March 19, 2023, at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall.
