SECOND ANNUAL SEA CLIFF SCHOOL HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA
A Holiday Extravaganza Everyone Will Remember!
Yesterday, Principal Megan McCormack kicked-off the holiday season with a musical Holiday Extravaganza at Sea Cliff School. To the delight of the Pre-K-5 Sea Cliff School students, faculty and staff, Ms. McCormack invited high school students and teachers from the holiday jazz band, chamber orchestra, advanced dance ensemble, and Madrigals to perform holiday favorites for everyone to enjoy! Superintendent Dr. Chris Zublionis made a guest appearance singing with music teachers from North Shore Middle School the popular song, “Feliz Navidad”, by José Feliciano along with Sea Cliff students! Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Carol Ann Smyth, and Director of the Fine & Performing Arts, Dalia Rodriguez, were also in the audience. Thank you to Trustee Maria Mosca who also came to the Sea Cliff Holiday Extravaganza!
Principal McCormack said, “The morning started with a Sea Cliff school-wide assembly. Everyone was dressed in festive Christmas and Chanukah holiday garments including reindeer antlers, vibrant lights, and colorful pajamas! We started with an interactive discussion about what a resolution is and how it connects to goal setting,” continued Principal McCormack. “Students learned about setting goals and were challenged to set one for themselves as a one-minute timer was visible on the screen. Students then shared their goals which led to a brief discussion on habits.”
Then, the talented North Shore High School musicians and their teachers assembled on stage to perform many popular holiday songs and lead a festive sing-along for all of Sea Cliff School to enjoy! Highlights of the event included:
- A Sea Cliff Student conducting the Chamber Orchestra
- Dr. Z singing “Feliz Navidad” on stage with Mr. Messemer and Mr. Larsen from North Shore Middle School along with younger SC students
- The Madrigals singing “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch”
- The talented Jazz Band playing with the beautiful HS Advanced Dance ensemble lined up in a kick-line formation in front of them like the Rockettes!
- An interactive Q&A led by the High School students on stage where their younger peers asked several questions.
- The happy and energetic feeling in the auditorium with everyone in the audience singing and dancing with joy!
Thank you to Principal Megan McCormack, the North Shore High School and Middle School Music Department and musicians, and everyone who made this special Holiday Extravaganza such a cheerful and harmonious celebration at Sea Cliff School. It was a wonderful example of our oldest North Shore students inspiring our youngest students to be creative and fulfill their dreams!
