Back-to- Nassau County Champions again. The North Shore Varsity Football team beat West Hempstead on Friday night, 11/18, in an exciting game to become the Nassau County Conference IV Champions again, 20-6!
Principal Eric Contreras said, "With great talent, fierce drive and disciplined focus, our NS Football Vikings are once again Nassau County Champions. Today as we unfurl the county championship banner we celebrate our boys, the coaches, the athletics program, and the dedication of our families."
He added, "It was true team effort of our talented players and coaches, buoyed by our cheer team, pep band, pulse dance team and an energetic community. Go Vikings, you make us all proud!”
Senior Nick La Rosa had touchdowns in the last two quarters of the game to help seal the victory for the Vikings. He said in a recent Herald article (see below), “It’s the best feeling in the world,” said La Rosa, who rushed for 117 yards on 20 carries and also led the defense with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. “The first one will always hold a special place in our hearts and now that we’ve repeated, our mindset is we’ve got one more game left,” Nick added.
