BOARD OF EDUCATION
Do You Want to be on a North Shore Board of Education Committee?
Positions are Available
We invite our North Shore residents to volunteer and apply to one of three board committees. The Board of Education committee volunteer positions are open on the Audit, Construction Steering, and Legislative Action (LAC) Committees for the North Shore Schools. These following committees report directly to the Board of Education where Trustees can benefit from the expertise of our community members:
• The Audit Committee: Established by the school board to oversee the annual independent audits of the District’s records. The committee shall recommend the selection of the independent and internal auditors and continue a thorough review of significant internal and external audit findings. The District is looking for two highly qualified candidates with experience in municipal finance and audits to work with the Board and our auditors.
• The Construction Steering Committee: Trustees established the Construction Steering Committee to oversee the District’s ongoing construction projects and state of our infrastructure along with the professional staff. This committee coordinates the review of and plan for the District facilities, capital projects, and technology integration necessary to support the teaching and learning process. The Board is looking for one highly qualified resident with experience in related fields to join this committee.
• The Legislative Action (LAC) Committee: The North Shore Board of Education established the LAC Committee as a Citizen’s Advisory Committee of the Board for the purpose of researching, proposing, and executing approved advocacy approaches to legislative matters that have a direct bearing on fiscal or educational aspects of the North Shore Central School District. Trustees are looking for qualified residents who can communicate with community members via a number of ways including letters, emails, school events, meetings and community groups.
Please check your mailboxes for a district mailer that contains an application to apply (it is also available on the school website at www.northshoreschools.org). All applications are due on September 24, 2021. Upon completion, please bring or mail your application (with a resume if available) to the Central Office, 112 Franklin Avenue, Sea Cliff, 11579. Thank you.
