Congratulations GWL Fifth Graders on Moving Up
to the Middle School!
On Monday, June 21, 2021, Principal Bridget Finder led memorable Moving Up Ceremonies for all of her Glenwood Landing fifth graders in two separate ceremonies held outside on the Glenwood Landing upper field. The ceremonies began with The Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the “Star Spangled Banner.” Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
To adoring parents, family members, and faculty, the fifth graders happily took to the stage to reminisce about their favorite memories at Glenwood Landing School. The reflections were personal and creative to everyone’s enjoyment. The graduates spoke beautifully as everyone in the audience listened attentively and applauded loudly. The fifth graders also performed the song, “Best Day of Our Life,” by American Authors under the direction of Ms. Torrey D’Angelo. Later in the ceremony, each child received their diplomas on the stage from Principal Finder and their teachers and held them up for their families to see!

In addition, Superintendent Dr. Peter Giarrizzo spoke at both ceremonies. Dr. Giarrizzo reminded the fifth graders that while they were now the Glenwood Landing Class of 2021, they were going to be the North Shore High School graduating Class of 2028! Dr. Giarrizzo quoted an old saying, “Good friends are like stars. You don’t always see them, but you know they’re always there…” He said, "As you move up to North Shore Middle School to try to take some responsible risks, make positive decisions, and try to expand your circle of friends for that you can always look to the stars and come home to Glenwood Landing School."
Then Principal Finder formally congratulated her graduating Class of 2021 and their respective families, and wished them all the best of luck as they move up to the middle school. Have a happy and healthy summer!
