6th Graders Meet NASA Astronaut at Cradle of Aviation Museum
Sixth grade students from the North Shore Middle School's Science Research Elective were invited on December 8, 2021 to a very special event at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City. NASA Astronaut Mike Massimino was present to open the new exhibit about the Hubble Space Telescope and speak to the children. Astronaut Mike Massimino is originally from Franklin Square NY and flew on two space shuttle missions to service the Hubble Space Telescope.
North Shore’s Secondary Director of Science, Mr. Steven Menchel said, “Our students got to listen to Mike speak and then got the opportunity to ask him questions. The sixth graders asked him everything from his inspiration and motivation for becoming an Astronaut, to what it was like to see the Earth from space. Some of our students were even interviewed for News 12 Long Island. It was a truly "Out of this World" experience!”
