AUTHOR DAN GUTMAN AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Popular Author Dan Gutman Visits the North Shore Schools
In January 2020, students, faculty and staff got a special treat as popular children’s author, Dan Gutman, came to visit our three North Shore elementary schools. Mr. Gutman shared that he has written approximately 160 books, mostly children’s fiction. His works include the Baseball Card Adventures children's book series that began with Honus & Me, and the My Weird School series. Spinoff series include My Weird School Daze and My Weirder School.
At North Shore, he “rapped” his popular Rappy The Raptor, a velociraptor who speaks in rhymes all of the time, with the younger elementary students and also read, Rappy Goes to the Supermarket, one of his favorites.
During his presentations to each of the grade levels, Mr. Gutman answered many questions from the children in the audience. We learned that his favorite color is blue, has two grown children, lives in New York City, likes cats, and loves sports – particularly, baseball! While he is not an athlete, he learned to incorporate his love of sports in his books and encouraged the young students to combine their passions into a career in their future.
A big thank you goes out to Dan Gutman, the New York Times bestselling author of the Genius Files series and the Baseball Card Adventure series.
