North Shore Middle School Student Wins 1st Place at Long Island Science Congress

Congratulations go out to North Shore Middle School student, Kate Weseley-Jones, who recently won the 1st place award for the Most Distinguished Categorical Project in Behavioral Science at the Long Island Science Congress. Her project titled "The Effects of Photos on the Perceptions of Shelter Dogs" was one of the best at the competition. Kate was assisted on her project by Maryalice Kelly, the 8th grade Living Environment and Science Enrichment teacher at North Shore Middle School. She will be moving onto the New York State Science Congress competition held at University of Buffalo on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

Ms. Amy DiMeola, Math and Science Teacher Leader at North Shore Middle School, said, “My sincere congratulations to Kate for her dedication to her research project and her wonderful work! We are so incredibly proud of Kate for all of her accomplishments!”

Mr. Steven Menchel, Science Department Teacher Leader at North Shore High School said, “Great going to all involved! So happy that all of your hard work was rewarded. Good luck in Buffalo!”
