August 2018
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope that you and your children are enjoying these final days of summer! At Glenwood Landing School, we have had a productive summer. Our building has been cleaned, and teachers and support staff have spent hours preparing materials and creating warm, inviting classrooms.
I look forward to welcoming you and your child to Glenwood Landing School in the coming month, and embarking on what is sure to be another successful school year. It is also my great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to those families that are new to Glenwood Landing School. I am confident that you will come to truly love our exceptional school community as much as I do.
Students return to school on Wednesday, September 5th. The schedule for the first week of school is:
Wednesday, September 5th Half Day – School begins at 8:25 AM and dismissal is at 11:40 AM
Thursday, September 6th Half Day – School begins at 8:25 AM and dismissal is at 11:40 AM
Friday, September 7th Full Day – School begins at 8:25 AM and dismissal is at 2:40 PM
A card has been enclosed for Kindergarten students. Please pin this card onto your child’s backpack each day for the first two weeks of school so we can escort your child to the appropriate classroom.
The cafeteria will begin serving lunch on September 7th for students in grades 1-5. Kindergarteners cannot begin purchasing lunch until September 17th. Please send your Kindergartener with a bagged lunch until that date. All information including menus and lunch prices can be found on the district website.
Please take a moment to review the enclosed copy of “Procedures for Arrival and Dismissal.” The building will remain closed until 8:15 AM each morning. I ask for your cooperation in strictly adhering to these procedures in order to ensure the safety of all our children. If you are in need of childcare, a registration form from the North Shore Before/After School program can be found on the district website.
Please be sure to complete and hand in the “Dismissal Form” on the first day of school. Changes to the normal dismissal schedule should be noted using a “Change in Going Home Arrangement” form. A copy is included in this packet for your convenience and is also available on the Glenwood Landing
School website under “Policies & Forms.” Changes to routine can be made by phone only for emergencies.
Transportation will be provided for eligible students starting September 5th. Information pertaining to bus routes will be mailed to your home from the Transportation Department. If you have any questions, please call the Transportation Department at 277-7930.
Please note that all important school information is on the district website at: www.northshoreschools.org
