SEA CLIFF SCHOOL BICYCLE SAFETY

Sea Cliff Bike to School Day

During the month of May 2021, students in K-5 at Sea Cliff School learned all about bicycle and street safety. Educators from Northwell Health came to Sea Cliff School during the K-5 Physical Education classes to present on street and bike safety. Principal Wojcik said, “Our students participated in a meaningful, interactive assembly outdoors where each student took a turn crossing their mini “safety street."  Students were taught the importance of wearing a helmet properly and saw a live demonstration of how protected an egg was in an appropriately fitted helmet.”

She continued, “This culminated with our annual Bike to School Day! What a sight to see all of our SCS students and families riding up to our school on their bicycles! A very special thank you to our own SCS parent, Mr. Flanzig, for organizing this wonderful event with the support of the New York Coalition for Transportation Safety, Northwell Health, and Cohen’s Children’s Hospital. A special thank you to the Sea Cliff Mayor, Ms. Elena Villafane, who was here to welcome our riders as they arrived. What a fabulous show of community spirit!”

Keep on biking safely, Sea Cliff!
