OUTDOOR ELEMENTARY SPECIALS
Specials are Even More “Special” Outdoors at Glen Head School
This fall season 2020 due to the pandemic, all K-5 elementary students have been successfully spending hours outside participating in the many special learning opportunities at the North Shore Schools including art, music, world language studies, SWES (enrichment), and gym.
Thanks to our hard-working custodians, freestanding tents have been set up at each of our school buildings for our students to engage in outdoor learning. In addition, faculty and staff are utilizing our amphitheaters, outdoor classrooms, and encouraging their students to sit on the grass so that they can get out of their buildings for some fresh air. While the weather permits, our K-5 Glen Head students have been outside learning a foreign language including Mandarin and Spanish, studying how artists are inspired by nature in art class, practicing trash can drumming in music, and showcasing their teamwork and athletic abilities while participating in physical education.
Whether indoors or outdoors, our faculty and staff continue to remind everyone to wear their masks when they cannot be six feet apart, wash their hands, and remain socially distanced in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines.
Specials have become even more “special” this 2020-21 school year, as our teachers, students, and staff spend hours outside having fun and learning!
