Sea Cliff Turkey Trot
Sea Cliff School students K-5 participated in their first annual SC Turkey Trot just prior to Thanksgiving break during every Physical Education class. Ms. Megan McCormack said, “Our students learned what a turkey trot is, why it is important to work on their cardiovascular fitness, and the importance of movement.”
She continued, “There were a lot of happy faces and smiles under their masks as children ran their designed route: a lap around the Sea Cliff front field, down Littleworth Avenue, around the black top, up Franklin Avenue, and across the front of the Sea Cliff School.” While classes were outside for snack and outdoor learning, they cheered their peers on as they ran by. The kids remarked, “This was the best day we have had all year!”
Ms. McCormack concluded by saying, “Our K-5 learners set a goal of what they wanted to accomplish, how many laps they wanted to run, and adjusted accordingly to individualize their route. The students were able to take mask breaks during their run, when needed, and ran through our taped off finish line.”
