Incoming Sixth Grade Orientation & BBQ
2018-19 6th Grade Orientation
August 29th was a very warm, humid day when Principal Rob Dennis and new Assistant Principal Brendan Nelson welcomed the incoming Viking Sixth Grade Class of 2018-19 to North Shore Middle School. Students were greeted by the middle school administrators, faculty and staff and participated in an orientation. It was an exciting time for each of them as they met their new principal, saw their old friends, and met new peers from the other two elementary schools.
Principal Dennis prepared them for their first year of middle school by explaining their team colors and schedules as well as highlighting the tremendous amount of opportunities at North Shore Middle School including exciting and challenging courses, expanded social circles, and the 6th Grade Greenkill Field Trip! He discussed that his students will get a better understanding of ‘Who Are You’ and ‘Who Are We’ as they take the journey through middle school.
Additionally, Principal Dennis reiterated the school ethos, Everyone Matters, Everyone Cares, Everyone Learns, and assured his students that, “North Shore Middle School is a place where everyone feels that they matter, where everyone takes the time to care about the individual needs of others, and where everyone feels safe and inspired to learn.”
During the orientation, the MS Counseling Department was available to assist the incoming 6h grade class. Students toured the middle school and their classrooms, opened their lockers, and participated in fun meet and greet games!
At noon, everyone enjoyed a delicious BBQ sponsored by the Middle School PTSO and took part in a 6th grade photo with MS Principal Dennis and Assistant Principal Nelson! We wish all of the six graders the best of luck!
