2019 National Merit ® Scholarship Program

Congratulations North Shore Commended Students in the
2019 National Merit ® Scholarship Program

Principal, Albert Cousins of North Shore High School along with the Counseling Department recently announced that four North Shore High School seniors including James Campbell, Derrick J. Korponay, Gian Carlo Royal, and James R. Vizza were recognized for exceptional academic promise as Commended Students in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.

They placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit® Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
