GLEN HEAD SCHOOL CELEBRATES UNITY DAY
GH Unity Day! The Week of Kindness Begins with You!
“Unity Day is the beginning of the Glen Head School Week of Kindness”, said Glen Head School-wide Enrichment Teacher, Janet Goldberg to correspond with anti-bullying month in October and Red Ribbon Week.
Unity Day is a day when we speak words of support and choose acts of kindness. It is a day when we reach out to others to appreciate our differences and celebrate all that we have in common.
Students were encouraged to wear orange and be “extra good” to one another. Additionally, all Glen Head students were asked to check off a number of acts of kindness that they achieved during the week and give a completed list to their respective teachers including:
- Let someone go ahead of you in line
- Tell someone why they are special
- Invite someone to play on the playground
- Give high fives to a friend
- Talk to someone new at school
- Share a special toy with a friend
- Teach someone something new
- Leave a letter in a library book
- Make a thank you card for special people
- Smile at everybody. It is contagious and free!
The Week of Kindness will culminate with a “Mix It Up” lunch in the cafeteria on October 31st with special activities for all!
