North Shore K-8 S.T.E.A.M. Maker Faire
North Shore Vikings S.T.E.A.M. Maker Faire A Success!
The rain and high winds did not keep people away as students and their families poured into the high school cafeteria on Tuesday, May 15th, to engage in numerous fun and educational activities at the first ever North Shore Vikings K-8 S.T.E.A.M. Maker Faire.
Many thanks to Ms. Carol Smyth (Elementary S.T.E.A.M. Director) and Ms. Amy DiMeola (Teacher Leader for Math and Sciences), and all of the faculty and staff who helped organize and supervise the over 15S.T.E.A.M. learning experiences including:
- Coding and Robotics with Ozobots, Dash and Dot, and Little Bits
- Making Slime
- Exploring the Physics of Roller Coasters and Whirly Gigs
- Innovating an Asteroid Collector
- Building with Keva Planks and Dazzlinks
- Playing Math Games
- Designing Artistic Creations
- Completing S.T.E.A.M. Challenges
You could see the joy on the student’s faces as they made tons of slime (a favorite!), sat on the floor and coded Dash and Dot, used their imaginations to design many colorful artistic creations, tested their knowledge at math games, built wooden structures with Keva Planks, and launched Whirly Gigs – just to name a few!
Nobody wanted to leave! Thank you again to all of the children, faculty, and administration who participated and helped run this amazing late afternoon of North Shore Vikings S.T.E.A.M!
