North Shore High School Belize Trip
25 North Shore HS IB Biology Students Explore Belize
During April 1-9, 25 North Shore students from the IB Biology classes and adult chaperones visited Belize, and experienced an “outdoor biological classroom”. IB Biology teacher, Mrs. Nancy Cunningham said, “We traveled from the South to the North of the country, from beaches to jungles.” Belize is located in the heart of Central America. It is bordered by Mexico to the north and Guatemala to the west and south.
Mrs. Cunningham continued, “My students had an opportunity to observe the raw beauty of nature by engaging in activities such as cave tubing, zip-lining, snorkeling, and "snuba-diving" (which is a cross between scuba and snorkel). We ate termites on our jungle hike and met "Junior" during our jaguar encounter.”
She concluded by saying, “It was an exciting, educational trip that all of us will remember forever for the many hands-on experiences that we encountered everyday while engaging in the culture and exploring the beautiful jungles, waters, and sights of Belize.”
Please note: These class trips are paid for by the families of the students participating and not the North Shore School District.
