North Shore Mock Trial Team Advances to Final 8 in Nassau County Mock Trial Competition on March 25

Congratulations go out to the North Shore High School Mock Trial team who just won the sweet sixteen round and now advances to the Final 8 in the Nassau County Mock Trial Competition hosted by the Nassau County Bar Association on March 25, 2021.  The team has faced Hicksville, Roslyn, Great Neck, and Kellenberg High Schools.
“Our Mock Trial Team has faced tough competition and have persevered through practice, thoughtful preparation, and research,” said High School Principal Eric Contrera. “In the process, they have embraced our shared values as thinkers, communicators, problem solvers, and collaborators. Our students have also earned valuable knowledge of our legal system and how it operates, while learning how to formulate an argument, sharpen their research skills, and develop oratory acumen.”

We are all proud of the achievement of the North Shore High School Mock Trial Team that includes: Nick Perciballi, Oliver Palone, Alana Golden, Veronica Frank Aracelly Sierra, Julia Morrisey, Samantha Lockwood, Maggie Leporin, Allie Eder, Katie Ditrano, Lyndsey Topol, Cole Jacklin, Isabella Alstodt, and Tara Hynes.

Principal Contreras added, “I am very proud of the team and grateful for the hard work of their advisor Tara Fabilli and our volunteer legal experts, the honorable Stacy Bennett and Attorney Lisa Golden for their generosity and mentorship.”

Advisor Tara Fabilli said, “The Nassau County Bar Association selects one case for 40 schools to read. Our talented high school students learned and became critical thinkers to understand affidavits from witnesses and become attorneys.” She continued, “Our students learned valuable years of knowledge, techniques, and strategies from our Judge Stacy Bennett and Attorney Lisa Golden who volunteer endless hours and weekends of their personal time to dedicate to our students. We are so grateful to them for doing this and our kids. Our students can take these skills to whatever career path they choose. I have watched these young adults practice virtually after their “new normal day” ends and I am in amazement that nothing can stop our North Shore students!”

Best of luck on March 25th when the team goes on to compete in the Final 8 Nassau County Mock Trial Competition!  The Plaintiff’s will be North Shore, Hewlett, North Shore Hebrew and Stella K Abraham and the Defendant’s will be Hicksville, Schreiber, Jericho and St. Mary’s.
