Legislators Participated in a Q&A Session With Community Members During LAC Night 2018
The North Shore Legislative Night took place on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Glenwood Landing School Theatre. This event was hosted by the Legislative Action Committee (LAC), a citizen’s advisory committee of the North Shore Board of Education.
Residents had an opportunity to hear from their elected officials on issues that are relevant to the district and the community. Legislators presented brief introductory remarks and then participated in a Q&A session. Legislators in attendance included Senator Carl Marcellino, Assemblyman Charles Lavine, Assemblyman Edward Ra, Assemblyman Michael Montesano, Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi Whitton, and Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan.
Topics discussed included the opioid crisis, APPR and teacher evaluations, State aid and foundation aid, the NY State tax cap and its effect on public education, unfunded mandates, PILOTS and their effect on school budgets, and New York American Water.
