50 Years Later, Class of 1964 Proudly Returns to NS High School

As the Class of 2014 eagerly prepares to leave for college or embark on various employment endeavors, the Class of 1964 proudly returned back to North Shore High School after 50 years! Approximately, 100 Viking alumni celebrated their 50th reunion on August 9, 2014 by visiting the high school campus and taking a tour of the classrooms, cafeteria, gymnasium, and theatre under the direction of Assistant Principal Jen Imperiale and Head Custodian Jerry Boertzel (also a North Shore alumnus).

As they walked the hallways and peeked into the classrooms, they reminisced about their high school years at North Shore. Many remembered the math and science wings, and cited where they were when President John F. Kennedy was shot. They complimented how clean everything looked and asked if the students and faculty use the latest technology such as Smart Boards and iPads.

Assistant Principal Imperiale and Mr. Boertzel took them inside the replica of the Glenwood Landing single-room schoolhouse which was constructed by North Shore seniors and alumni in the Long Island Studies (LIS) program under the direction of technology teacher, Mr. Bruce Fichtman. She also told them about their latest project, the Victorian TV and Recording Studio, located at the entrance of the high school campus which will be celebrating a grand opening on Thursday, September 18, from 6:30-8:30 PM.

As the tour concluded, this spirited bunch gathered on the bleachers of the gymnasium and happily sang their Viking alma mater! While the years had passed, their friendships and fond memories of the North Shore Schools will remain with them always.
